There are currently 7 different request types; Quick Form, Standard Request, 3rd Party, Prescription Refill, Docnote Debit, WSIB, and Service Canada. All requests are unique and serve a different purpose.
Request Types
Quick Forms
Quick Forms are used directly between patients and the physician’s office. These forms are pre-completed and accessible only behind a paywall. Once payment is made, the form is automatically released to the patient without any need for status management.
Standard Requests
Standard Requests are the most flexible option and function as general-purpose requests. They can be sent to patients, third parties, or both, and require more hands-on management. Staff may update the request status as needed and can choose whether billing occurs before or after the service is completed. The sender also determines when and to whom the request is released.
Third-Party Requests
Third-Party Requests are strictly between the office and external organizations such as lawyers, insurance companies, legal representatives, or OHIP. Patients do not receive notifications or communication regarding these requests. The office submits the invoice to the third party, payment is returned to the office, and the transaction is recorded internally.
Prescription Refill Requests
Prescription Refill Requests involve the office, the patient, and eventually the pharmacy. A prescription is uploaded and held behind a paywall until payment is received. Once the patient pays, the request is automatically released to the pharmacy with no further action required.
Docnote Debit Requests
Docnote Debit Requests are used for direct office-to-patient billing. These typically apply to small in-office procedures or services such as uninsured vaccinations. A related document can be attached to the service and automatically sent via email to the patient upon payment, or no document is required at all. The primary function is to allow straightforward, online payment for services.
WSIB Requests
WSIB Requests are transmitted strictly between the office and WSIB. Patients do not receive notifications. Similar to third-party requests, an invoice is submitted to WSIB, payment is received, and the office records the transaction accordingly.
Service Canada Requests
Service Canada Requests follow the same structure as third-party requests. Communication occurs solely between the office and Service Canada. An invoice is generated and sent to Service Canada, payment is issued back to the office, and the transaction is recorded internally.
